Measles Update

Last week we wrote to parents to advise that a pupil in school had been in contact with a confirmed case of measles. We have now been informed that there has been a case of measles in a pupil

Public Health England has provided the following advice.

Parents of children who have not received 2 doses of MMR vaccination as part of their childhood immunisation programme should consider the MMR vaccine for their child.  MMR vaccine is safe,
and provides effective protection against three diseases – measles, mumps and rubella. The first
dose of MMR is given soon after the first birthday. A second dose is normally given before school
entry. Two doses of MMR are required to produce satisfactory protection against measles, mumps
and rubella. As a precautionary measure, we would recommend self-exclusion of children who
have not had two doses of MMR from School for a week.
