Literacy Curriculum (Handwriting)

Literacy Curriculum Intent

At Smith’s Wood Primary, pupils are taught how to write fluently in order to communicate their ideas, as writing fluently is an essential life skill. Pupils are taught the skills to write clearly, accurately and coherently. Furthermore, pupils are encouraged to adapt their style and use of language to suit the purpose of their work. Pupils are taught the skills required to write neatly for sustained periods of time. The speed at which pupils write will vary as they learn join their writing.
