Coventry Cathedral - Part 2!

Pupils from 3JC enjoyed an unforgettable educational trip this week as they visited the iconic Coventry Cathedral, learning about history, art and the powerful message of peace.

The day began with great excitement as the children travelled to the city centre, eager to explore one of Coventry’s most famous landmarks. On arrival, the class were welcomed by cathedral staff, who explained the unique history of the building, including how the old cathedral was destroyed during the Second World War and how the new cathedral was built alongside it as a symbol of forgiveness and reconciliation.

During a guided tour, pupils explored both the ruins of the old cathedral and the modern cathedral. They were fascinated by the broken walls and learned how the ruins are still used today for remembrance services. Inside the new cathedral, pupils admired the stunning stained-glass windows, the impressive tapestry of Christ, and the beautiful architecture. Many pupils were particularly interested in how light and colour are used to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

The trip linked closely to the class’s learning in history and religious education and brought their classroom topics to life. We are extremely proud of how well the pupils represented the school, demonstrating excellent manners and listening skills.
