  • Year 2 Motoring Along

    Published 12/12/23

What an incredible day Year 2 had at the British Motor Museum! From fast cars and famous cars from films all the way through to historical buses and an example of the first car ever built, we were truly blown away by the spectacular array of transport. Thank you to the brilliant learning team at the British Motor Museum who ensured we had such a memorable day. We had an exciting tour jam packed with facts and a workshop where we built and tested our own cars. Year 2 were completely engrossed in the day and we were impressed by both their behaviour and how well they demonstrated our school values. This was a day to remember!

  • Pupils of the Week

    Published 08/12/23

Each week, during our Friday Achievement assembly, we celebrate our ‘Pupils of the Week’ from each year group. Pupils are recognised for this weekly award for a variety of reasons and are nominated by their class teacher. They may have excelled in a particular subject through the week; may have shown one, or more, of the school values in abundance, or they may have impressed their teacher, or other staff members with a huge amount of effort. Whatever they are nominated for, they are recognised in the whole school achievement assembly, receive a certificate to take home and get to wear one of our prestigious black and gold t-shirts.
During the assembly, we also celebrate children who have 100% attendance for the week and have been in school every day on time. A lucky dip, of all children who are eligible takes place, and one pupil walks away with £5 to spend on whatever they want, Standards and presentation of a child’s book, chosen at random, are also reviewed and celebrated with the school and the child, whose book has been chosen, has the chance to win a dip out of the basket of goodies, as long as they have used their best handwriting every day, completed their feed forward marking and taken care in the presentation of their date and learning objective. We are extremely proud of all of the efforts of our pupils and the Friday Achievement assembly recognises this pride.

Our weekly winners this week are:

    Leo - 1RW

  • Smith's Wood's Nautical Expedition

Last night, Smith's Wood's bravest rowers took centre stage at the North Solihull Rowing Festival of fun!

Our rowing team demonstrated high levels of resilience, endurance and teamwork, battling against an array of skilled mariners. Despite fierce competition, our noble oarsman managed to navigate the choppy, and sometimes murky, waters of Fordbridge Primary School, resulting in a well-deserved bronze medal win!

Well done to the team and everyone involved!

SWAG members were out in force selling Pudsey-themed merchandise for the whole week.

  • Year 6 Black Country Living Museum Visit

    Published 20/11/23

On Thursday 16th November, Year 6 went on an amazing trip to the Black Country Living Museum. While there, the children got to feel what it was like in the Victorian era and even go inside some Victorian houses and shops. As well as this, they discovered what life was like through the ages in the Music Shop, School and Newsagents.

At the school, they learnt how children were treated. They discovered that teachers were not as kind as they are now, and that they had to address their teacher as 'Sir' every time they spoke. In addition, the children went onto a vintage double-decker bus, a funfair and down to the canals!
