Year 2 had a brilliant afternoon with Luke and his team from GXO Logistics. They brought their HGV to school and all Year 2 pupils had the opportunity to look inside and ask questions. The GXO team were extremely knowledgeable and gave us lots of interesting facts. This will be helpful for us as part of our current topic. We would like to extend a big thank you to Luke and GXO Logistics for such a great afternoon.

    Published 11/11/22

This week, children at Smith’s Wood Primary Academy have been learning about the history behind Remembrance Day. The children enjoyed creating poppies out of recycled plastic bottles and were invited to plant these, creating a beautiful poppy path to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers. Lest we forget.

  • Outdoor Learning Day!

    Published 04/11/22

Since it began in 2011 Outdoor Learning Day has become the World's biggest celebration of outdoor play and learning and the farthest reaching global movement campaigning for time outdoors everyday for all children.

Their goals are; 1. Outdoor learning as part of every school day

                                 2. A consistent minimum target for playtime

                                 3. Schools to advocate for more time outdoors

Here at Smith's Wood Primary Academy we are proud of our Outdoor Learning Spaces and the fact that every child is given the opportunity to take part in Outdoor Learning sessions throughout the year.

Please take the time to look at the photographs from our Outdoor Classroom Day on Thursday 3rd November.
