Our Year 4 pupils recently returned from an incredible multi-adventure residential at Redridge Activity Centre, where they truly brought Smith’s Wood Primary Academy’s values to life.
Throughout the visit, pupils demonstrated determination and perseverance as they tackled a range of challenging activities, including climbing, orienteering and water-based tasks. For many, these were completely new experiences, yet they approached each one with resilience and a willingness to keep going, even when things felt difficult.
Respect and friendship were evident in every aspect of the residential. Pupils consistently supported one another—offering encouragement on the climbing wall, working collaboratively during team challenges, and celebrating each other’s successes. The sense of togetherness and inclusion was a real strength of the trip.
We were particularly proud of the responsibility pupils showed during their time away from home. From organising their belongings to following instructions and representing the school impeccably, they demonstrated maturity and independence throughout.
Honesty also played an important role, with pupils reflecting thoughtfully on their experiences, recognising when they found something challenging and celebrating their own personal growth.
This residential was far more than just a trip—it was a powerful opportunity for pupils to develop character, build confidence and deepen relationships, all while embedding the values that sit at the heart of our school.
Staff were immensely proud of how every pupil conducted themselves. They were outstanding ambassadors for Smith’s Wood Primary Academy.
