On Tuesday 22nd September, Year 4 stepped back in time for a day of all things Viking! The children arrived dressed as fierce Viking warriors, ready to immerse themselves in a range of exciting activities inspired by our History topic.

Throughout the day, the children put their learning to the test in lots of different ways. In Maths, they used their knowledge of coordinates to locate dragons across a map of Europe. During Guided Reading, they discovered how Vikings used runes and had a go at writing their own names using the Viking alphabet. In Literacy, the children took on the roles of Viking kings and queens, creating their own Viking laws and deciding on punishments for those who broke them.

The afternoon was filled with creativity as the children designed and made their own Viking shields before constructing longboats, ready to set sail on their very first Viking voyage! It was fantastic to see the children embracing the Viking spirit and enjoying a fun-filled day of learning!
