More than a school

Let the Games Begin!

Last week alliances were formed, and tough decisions were made in the first ever Smith’s Wood Games. Pupils competed against each other for a grand total of 1200 house points, the challenges tested the fortitude of every pupil and pushed their teamwork skills to the limit as they battled to stay in the game. Pupils were required to reflect on and apply their personal strengths, values, and decision-making skills. The games required pupils to:

  • Encourage resilience and emotional regulation
  • Require trust, communication, and collaboration with peers
  • Place pupils in situations where outcomes may feel unfair or outside of their control
  • Support pupils in managing disappointment and elimination constructively
  • Push pupils beyond their comfort zones and into meaningful self-reflection on character and behaviour

At the end of the night only 10 pupils remain to continue the competition this week!
