At the end of a very ‘unusual’ 2 weeks in the lives of us all, we, at Smith’s Wood Primary Academy, would like to once again wish you well for the upcoming weekend and hope that you are all staying safe with your families. I know that this would have been the last day of the Spring term for all of us and children would have been heading home to enjoy the holidays and the huge amount of chocolate that they would consume in Easter eggs. We do hope that you have all managed to stock up on treats for Easter, so that you can enjoy some family time, albeit in the confines of your own homes.
The continued support, from parents, during the school closure continues to be outstanding and we would like to thank you for respecting the Government guidelines and keeping your children at home, safe with you, wherever you are able to do so.
As we move into the Easter holidays, the school will open, on a reduced provision, for the children of the identified key workers, who have been in this week. These workers have been notified of the arrangements during the Easter holidays in writing. For all other children, the school remains closed, and as it stands, will remain closed from the week of the 20th April also. If this changes over Easter, and we are issued with any new guidelines, I will make sure that all parents are made aware of this via the website, text message service and Facebook.
As many of you are aware, the small hall has been open for parents to change their child’s reading book each day, from 11.45-12.15. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this provision during the Easter holidays, however this will resume when we return after Easter, and will once again, be available from 11.45-12.15 daily.
The work packs, which the school prepared for all year groups (Reception to Year 6) for the last 2 weeks are currently being replenished and we will have new work packs available for collection from the 20th April 2020. Organisation for how these packs are to be collected will be issued on a separate Facebook post and details will appear on the Website, so please look out for these details. We are also preparing packs for Nursery aged pupils, so if these will also be available from the 20th April. Please also remember that the school website contains a number of links, organised under each year group and additional resources are being added as we receive them.
Many of you will also have children who were due to go on a Residential over the next few months; Red Ridge; HMS Belfast; Paris. The school is currently working with each of the residential establishments and the insurance companies in order to secure details relating to refunds. The school will be in contact with parents of children, who were due to attend these trips, over the next few weeks in order to discuss and arrange refunds. Please bear with us while we organise these and contact the relevant parties.
As always, we hope that all pupils, who attend Smith’s Wood Primary Academy are keeping safe and well and are looking forward to Easter. We look forward to seeing you all, back at school, when we are able to open fully.
