Last week, all the Reception children went on our trip to the North Pole Adventure Farm at the National Forest Adventure Farm. The children enjoyed a tractor ride, a chance to feed and see some of the farm animals, a visit through the North Pole Adventure completing activity challenges, a trip to see Father Christmas and then being able to choose a gift of their choice from the toy shop, and a play within the soft play area. They all had so much fun on their first trip!

  • Smith's Wood Swinging Sixties

    Published 10/12/21

Today Year 6 took a groovy look back at life in the 1960s with an array of engaging and exciting activities. They took on the role of Beatles superfans by penning a letter to their favourite member of the Fab Four, proving 'All You Need Is Love' - and Music! The day was rounded off in real swinging-sixties-style, with children designing their own album cover, all the while listening to some of the hits of a golden era!

Yesterday saw our Smith's Wood Extravaganza!! Pupils donned their festive jumpers, raising money for Save The Children, they also had the opportunity to eat Christmas dinner with their friends - served by Miss Givens and Mrs Hudson! All pupils then took part in an afternoon full of Christmas inspired activities. Across the day all pupils made a special trip to our very own 'North Pole' to visit Father Christmas and receive a present. A fun-filled and festive day was had by all!

  • Y5 Take on the Cube

    Published 06/12/21

Another Thursday night at Smith's Wood, another House Competition.  Mr Hobbis started the night with one question for Year 5 pupils - "Can you beat the cube?"  The Bat House tried valiantly and ultimately walked away with 40 house points after deciding to walk away in round four of eight.  The Spider House provided the most intense, dramatical moment of the year so far, where with only one life remaining completed 'bounce' to walk away with 50 house points. Hulk House were flying with ten lives after four rounds only to falter at the fifth where one challenge evaporated all ten lives meaning they left with nothing but an unreal learning opportunity.  Super house will return in cliff hanger fashion as they sit on 7 lives remaining and three challenges to complete.  The Question remains... Can they beat the cube?
