  • Going for a Drive with Year 2

    Published 28/11/22

Year 2 had a fantastic trip to Coventry Transport Museum where we got to take part in an exciting, hands-on workshop. Here, we investigated the importance of balance, rode scooters, labelled parts of a bicycle and had a go at making our own wheels. After this, we explored the museum and were amazed by the range of different types of transport that were on display. We all loved completing the timeline trail and this helped us to engage with the surrounding exhibits. A day to remember!

  • You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Trophy Cabinet…….

    Published 28/11/22

Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard, however when talent works hard Smith’s Wood win gold! Both our Boy’s and Girl’s rowing teams secured a thoroughly deserved gold medal producing a truly dominant performance at the North Solihull Rowing Championship.

The Girl’s team, demonstrating textbook technique and Olympian levels of endurance, obliterated the opposition leaving them trailing in their wake. The Boy’s team, utilised great teamwork, superhuman levels of perseverance and some inspiring PBs, to storm to victory. Finally, a notable mention to our Girl’s ‘B’ team who not only created history (becoming our first ‘B’ team to qualify for the finals) but also placed inside the top 5. A superb accomplishment from a hardworking team dedicated to practice.

We are immensely proud of all our teams who represented our school with such distinction.

  • Year 6's Swinging Sixties Day!

    Published 24/11/22

Today, the year 6's have had a Swinging Sixties day and learnt all about the 60s decade. Throughout the morning, they looked at creating patterns in Maths, choosing appropriate colours and designs. In Literacy, they wrote a newspaper report about the 1969 moon landing, and dressed in appropriate 60s clothing all day! During the afternoon, they created commentary for the 1966 World Cup Final, and researched and designed an outfit for a 60s pop star. It was a brilliant day for everyone, and all children (and staff) fully immersed themselves in the 60s lifestyle, whilst listening to popular 60s music such as The Beatles. A wonderful day for all!
