  • Keeping safe in the heat

    Published 15/07/22

In light of the upcoming weather forecast for Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July, please can we ask parents to make sure that their child comes to school with a hat, plenty of liquids to drink and has had sun cream applied. The school will be taking precautionary steps to ensure that the rooms are ventilated and that children do not spend any large amounts of time outside, or in the sun whilst the temperatures are predicted to be so high. Children will have access to drinks throughout the day, with stations being set up outside the classrooms for when children are outside for the short periods of time. If you can ensure that your child is wearing their summer school uniform (summer dress or shorts and a polo shirt), has a hat with them, sunglasses, sun cream and a water bottle which can be refilled, then this will all help to support in the predicted high temperatures.

  • Spider House Take Pole Position

    Published 15/07/22

Last night saw the hall transformed into the Smith's Wood Speedrome to mark our inaugural MarioKart House Competition. The occasion was marked by a cacophony of sound as screeching tyres and determined cheering set the backdrop for a thrilling set of races. Competition was fierce but all teams were able to persevere through all the way to the final races with an astounding display of sportsmanship and friendship cheering for each and every racer!

High quality of competition saw some races down to the wire, however, Spider House were able to drift through into first place securing the podium as the very first MarioKart House Competition winners!

Well done to Spider House and all houses for a spectacular night

This week, Nursery children enjoyed a fun filled day at Ash End Farm which included lots of hands on experiences including bottle feeding a baby lamb, feeding goats and sheep and also holding a newly hatched chick before rummaging in the chicken coops to select their very own  egg. In addition to this they got to see horses, cows, donkeys, reptiles and birds of prey to mention a few!

They even got to see piglets born only 4 hours earlier.

Amazingly, Nursery even had time for a picnic together, time to explore the farm and play on the parks all before returning to school full of smiles!

  • Reception Trip to Hatton Country World!

    Published 13/07/22

Last week, Reception children had an amazing day at Hatton Country World! The weather was kind to us and we were able to explore and learn lots about the animals they have there.

We had a tractor ride adventure around the farm, discovering some fun facts about the animals - the donkey that was featured in the Nativity films (bubbles) lives there! The children also had some exploring time looking at their selection of snakes, lizards spiders and even a terrapin called Terry! We were able to feed the big goats, stroke the younger goats, gold guinea pigs and stroke a lovely bearded dragon called Bobby. The children also enjoyed a quick play in the soft play area and a ride on the tall dragon sack slide!

Overall, we loved our Reception trip!
