This year's Science Fair theme was time- and boy does time fly when you are having fun at the Science fair!  Each year group had representatives who talked scientifically to their audiences about their Science project. Various investigations took place including: Why does a boat float?  What happens to your heart after exercise? What is adaptation?

Take a look at our gallery to see the superb science learning from our Science Fair.

  • Pupils of the Term

    Published 22/03/24

Today we have celebrated our pupils of the term. These children have been nominated by their class teachers to receive an end of term prize. This is a prestigious award, as the pupil of the term nominations are for those children who have impressed their teachers repeatedly over the whole of the Autumn term. We would like to congratulate all of our pupil of the term winners and thank them for showing the school values in abundance this term. We also celebrate children who have 100% attendance for the week and have been in school every day on time. A lucky dip, of all children who are eligible takes place, and one pupil walks away with £5 to spend on whatever they want, Standards and presentation of a child’s book, chosen at random, are also reviewed and celebrated with the school and the child, whose book has been chosen, has the chance to win a dip out of the basket of goodies, as long as they have used their best handwriting every day, completed their feed forward marking and taken care in the presentation of their date and learning objective. We are extremely proud of all of the efforts of our pupils and the Friday Achievement assembly recognises this pride.

  • Eggcellent Easter Celebrations

    Published 21/03/24

Children from EYFS and KS1 took part in an eggciting Easter bonnet parade yesterday as they paraded around the school to a wonderous applause from KS2; children in KS2 also wowed us with their eggtravagently decorated eggs and they were proudly displayed in school for all to see.  It was fantastic to see so many creative and eggcellent Easter creations and it looked as though the children enjoyed creating their masterpieces at home, I know it was very hard to pick a winner in each class.

  • They're the Best Around!

    Published 14/03/24

On Tuesday 12th March, 3NW took part in a ‘Bestival’ competition where they had to compete in a variety of tasks to beat their personal best, along with other schools in the area.

The children arrived at Coleshill Comprehensive school ready for a morning of fun. Pupils got into teams and took the challenges on like true Smith’s Wood pupils. They were encouraging each other and showing all our school values. Three children even received medals for good sportsmanship and determination.

“I thought hockey was the best and I enjoyed trying new things” said JJ.

“I loved it! I really enjoyed competing in sports because P.E is my favourite” Alice.
