Values are the principles that drive our thinking and behaviour. They influence our actions and attitudes and guide us through life in all that we do. They influence our character, which essentially makes us who we are.
In November 2017, we asked the whole school community to vote on the values that they thought were the most important to our pupils at Smith’s Wood Academy. The values we decided on are:
Our core school values are now embedded into all that we do at Smith’s Wood Academy so that we can nurture pupils prepared and ready to flourish in tomorrow’s society. Each half-term, we focus explicitly on one of our school values. Assemblies are themed around our values and where possible, they are taught and discussed in other areas of our curriculum. Most importantly, staff are passionate about role-modelling each value and are proactive in their approach when delivering our values.
To recognise pupils who have demonstrated our school values, ‘Values Postcards’ are sent home. Furthermore, our celebration assemblies recognise pupils who have made a real effort to show our values
